Artist's Comments

This is a photo of one of My photos with some mustard grass flowers laying over top of the photograph. The idea is that in the spring, here around the orchards, on up to the vineyards of Napa Valley, Mustard Grass flowers help the grapes and fruit trees. It starts blooming this time of year and blankets the fields with beautiful almost Lemon Yellow flowers. I am submitting this photograph to a contest outside of DA. :)

Also submitted for contest "Spring"

very powerful contrasts - that spring is a begining, that we are bound by the barbs containing us. Good Luck! i think it an excellent and emotive picture.

Thanks- those are actually left over grapevine's from the previous season, but yes, I think it speaks a powerful message. I liked it quite a bit. This was taken in a Vineyard in Napa Valley, this past weekend, then the flowers were added once I developed the photo- (which was underdeveloped.)

great - i thought afterwards that it wasn't a barbed wire fence - that just my first immediate reaction - in that way there is even more depth in continuity

I've never seen this technique before, whether it is your innovation or not, it is definitely unusual, and well done! Great work!

Very neat; a photograph of a photograph. Did you use a copystand?

Hmmm I think it's my own innovation, but I am sure other people think that too ha ha. But I came up with the idea because of the contest, it had to be pictures of mustard grass, only the day I drove up there, ( 3+ hours from my home) it was all cloudy and such, so I wanted to add a little vibrance to offset the dull gloomy pics I had.

No, tripod, natural light + spotlight with diffuser, lots of patience.
